Buy a Virtual Card With Crypto: Fund It With USDT or USDC

You hold USDT or USDC and want a card you can pay with online: for ads, AI tools, hosting or subscriptions. Many services sell a "crypto virtual card", but they work in different ways, cost different amounts, and some are not safe. This guide explains the types of crypto card, what to check before you buy one, the real cost of a card bought with crypto, a step-by-step example with ZikCards, and the mistakes that cost people money.

What "buying a virtual card with crypto" means

Merchants do not take crypto. When you pay with a crypto card, the merchant receives an ordinary Visa or Mastercard payment in dollars or another currency. The crypto is turned into card money somewhere before that. Where and when that happens is the main difference between providers:

  • Cards that sell your crypto at each payment. Some exchanges link a card to your crypto wallet. When you pay, they sell enough crypto to cover it. Each payment can be a sale, which may matter for tax in your country, and the price moves with the market.
  • Cards funded with stablecoins. You send USDT or USDC to the provider, your balance is credited in dollars, and you load cards from that balance. Because USDT and USDC are designed to stay at one dollar, you know what you have before you spend. ZikCards works this way.

For paying ad platforms, software and subscriptions, a stablecoin-funded card is usually simpler: the amount on the card does not move with the crypto market, and you load only what you plan to spend.

What to check before you buy a crypto card

CheckWhat to look for
Who issues the cardA licensed card issuer behind the program, and a company you can identify. A site with no company name or address on record is a warning.
Identity checkRegulated programs verify who you are. It protects the money on your account too.
Card country and currencyA US card in US dollars avoids conversion fees on dollar payments.
Which coins and networksMake sure the network you use is listed. Sending on an unlisted network usually loses the money.
Every feeDeposit, card creation, loading, monthly, declined payments, payments outside the card's country.
3D SecureMany merchants run a check that may ask for a one-time code. The card must be able to answer it.
Getting money backCan you close a card and get its balance back? Can you withdraw?

Be careful with offers on Telegram or WhatsApp that sell a "ready card" for a crypto payment to a private wallet. You cannot check who issued the card, whose name it is in, or whether it will still work next week, and a crypto payment cannot be reversed.

Which coins and networks ZikCards takes

ZikCards balances are funded with stablecoins only:

  • USDT on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Solana, TRON or Ethereum.
  • USDC on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon or Solana.

Choose the network when you start a deposit and send on exactly that network. Network fees differ a lot: Ethereum is usually the most expensive to send on. If you are not sure which to pick, read which network to send USDT on. If you do not have stablecoins yet, our guide on how to buy USDT safely covers where to get them. For USDC, see our USDC card guide.

What a card bought with crypto really costs

Add up every step, not just the card price. With ZikCards there are three fees of our own:

  • Deposit: from $1 + 1%, depending on the network.
  • Card creation: $5 one time (your first card is $3 with a $2-off discount code). No monthly card fee.
  • Loading a card: 3% of the amount you load.

Also plan for the $1.20 that stays on every open card. It keeps the card active and comes back to your wallet when you close the card, but it cannot be spent. So a card can spend its balance minus $1.20.

An example. You want to spend $50 on a subscription. Load $51.20 onto the card so $50 can be spent. The 3% loading fee on $51.20 is about $1.54, and the card costs $5. So you need about $57.74 in your ZikCards balance, plus the deposit fee for your network when you send the stablecoins. Every fee is on our pricing page.

Two fees come from the card issuer, not from us: $0.40 for each declined payment, taken from the card, and a cross-border fee of $0.50 + 2.5% when a merchant settles the payment outside the US.

How to buy a virtual card with crypto on ZikCards

  1. Create your account and verify once with a photo ID (passport, national ID card or driving licence) and a short selfie on your phone. Most verifications are approved automatically within minutes. See what ID you need.
  2. Start a deposit. Choose USDT or USDC, choose the network, and enter the amount. You get an address for that deposit.
  3. Send from your wallet or exchange on the same network, to the address shown. Check the first and last characters of the address before you send.
  4. Wait for the credit. The balance is credited once the network confirms the payment. See how long a deposit takes.
  5. Create a card. Choose Visa or Mastercard and the amount to load. The card is ready in seconds.
  6. Name it and use it. Name the card on the My cards page, then pay with its number, expiry date, security code and its own billing address, shown on the card page with a copy button.

The card is issued on a US credit BIN, loaded from your balance, with no credit line: no bill, no interest, no credit check. Some people search for a "crypto credit card" or a "crypto debit card"; this is exactly how ours works.

Mistakes that cost money

  • Wrong network. Sending USDT on TRON to a BNB Smart Chain deposit, or USDC on a network we do not take, usually loses the money for good.
  • Sending less than the deposit amount. Exchanges often take their withdrawal fee from the amount you send, so less arrives. Send enough to cover it. If a deposit arrived short, see my deposit arrived short.
  • Loading exactly the price. Remember the $1.20 that stays on the card. A $20 payment needs at least $21.20 on the card.
  • Retrying a declined payment many times. Each decline costs $0.40. Find the reason first; our guide to why a card is declined online helps.
  • Trying to buy crypto with the card. Crypto purchases and money transfers are blocked on ZikCards cards. See which purchases are blocked.

What people pay for with a crypto-funded card

Online tools and software, AI subscriptions, hosting and domains, app stores, streaming, and online advertising. For ads, read our virtual card for ads guide. A US card removes the most common reason cards from many countries are refused, the card's country. But each merchant runs its own checks, so no card provider can promise acceptance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy a virtual card with USDT?

Yes. With ZikCards you fund your balance with USDT on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Solana, TRON or Ethereum, then create a US Visa or Mastercard virtual card from that balance.

Can I buy a virtual card with USDC?

Yes, on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon or Solana. TRON and Ethereum are not accepted for USDC deposits.

Can I pay with Bitcoin?

Not directly. ZikCards takes USDT and USDC only. If you hold Bitcoin, you would first exchange it for USDT or USDC on an exchange that is allowed to serve your country.

Do I need to verify my identity?

Yes, once. You verify with a photo ID and a short selfie, and most verifications are approved automatically within minutes. You must be 18 or older.

How fast do I get the card?

Once your deposit is credited, a card is ready in seconds after you create it.

Can I turn the card balance back into crypto?

Closing a card returns its balance to your ZikCards wallet in full, with no fee. You can then withdraw from the wallet in USDT; the withdrawal fee is $2 + 1%.

Is a crypto virtual card a credit card?

Ours is issued on a US credit BIN, but no credit is given. It spends only what you load from your balance, with no bill and no interest.
